I ventured into the rodeo scene for over twenty years riding bulls until my body couldn't keep up with my mind. I couldn't think of anything I loved more than working with horses. That is when I started studying and learning more about the physical aspects of the horse.
I attended the Montana School of Equine Massage Therapy, but this was not enough. To quench my thirst for knowledge and understanding of the horse I also attended and became certified at Dr. Daniel Kaman's School of Equine Chiropractic. I wanted to know why one horse could do a certain move better and more fluent than another. Now I feel I have a lot better understanding about the horse and continue to educate myself so I can be a better and more knowledgeable trainer.

In 1974 I bought my first stud colt. He was six months old when I got him. I raised him and when he was two years old I started him. I used him for ranch work and team roping. From 1976 until 1992 I had eighteen mares. I would buy a mare and if she was broke I would use her. If I liked her I would breed her to my stud. If I didn't like her I would sell her. When I bought a mare that wasn't broke, I would start her. If I liked her, I would breed her to my stud. The colts out of these mares I would start at two or three years old and sell them. Mostly to ranches or ropers. I did keep some of the best for myself.
Today, I still own one of those colts. He is now retired to light duty only. My stud died in 1994. In 1992 I sold all of my mares that I had left and started buying colts. Most all of the colts that I buy are at least three years old or older. Most all have been geldings. Sometimes I will buy older horses if they are sound and are good ones.
After my stud died I started taking in outside horses again. It was in 1999 my nephew, Bo, became interested in training horses. We got together and built an indoor riding barn so we could train horses year round.
We have studied lots of different trainers methods, and have ----- different methods that fit our style of training. In the last four years the number of horses that we have started and trained is in the hundreds. We have a good base of return customers. Most of our return customers are ranches that need colts that are gentle, solid, and ready to go to work on the ranch. We have started all kinds of horses. From race horses, rope horses, pleasure horses, gaited horses, trail and pack horses, to just backyard horses. We also train horses that have problems or bad habits.
We at River Front Stables have the ability to take your horse from start to finish or just get your horse started so you can go on with him safely. Bring us your horse. Let us start him or her right, so you can start having all the fun you can handle with your newly trained horse!
